Mr. Bassett founded Aetas with the purpose of dynamic trading and investing for any market regime. With the idea of remaining "asset agnostic", Aetas seeks outperformance even in the most unusual market periods. During any macroeconomic state, there are assets that outperform and others that are best to short, which generates an uncorrelated portfolio to the market. Relying on quanatitive as well as macroeconomic analysis, we seek to position ourselves in these outperforming assets and shorts, tactically or strategically.
Our firm is led by Daniel S. Bassett, who founded the company in 2021 with our first fund the Aetas Lattice Fund LP. Mr. Bassett has been an entrepreneur and trader for almost a decade. His first company, CB Cryptocurrency, traded and arbitraged cryptocurrency as early as 2014. He then founded Bassett Capital LLC, a commercial real estate investment group focusing on the Austin area. Additionally, he is a co-founder of GradientJ, which builds AI research tools and was the winner of the "AI for Command Challenge" in partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory and National Security Innovation Network. He holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Financial Economics from The Johns Hopkins University and undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Economics from The University of Texas at Austin.
